Favoured Fishing Areas:

Imagine fishing in an area where, running distance to world class Sailfish action is approximately 1 hr!

The waters off the coast from Rompin are a unique Asian fishery, home of the black Marlin and unique species of fish. The early season (March-April) is very good for King Mackerel (Tenggiri) and Sailfish. Dorado, Cobia and juvenile Black Marlin are also available. The big schools of Sailfish normally show up in May-June, with peak season from July to end of October, many days you can release 10+ Sailfish during the peak season,. Fishing is done mostly 10-20 miles N and NW of Tioman and NE of Kuala Rompin. There are also closer fishing areas (5-10 miles NW of Tioman) for Dorado, Tenggiri, Cobia and Black Marlin.

A strict Catch-and-Release policy ensures quality fishing and abundant catches. Anglers there target Sailfish using a variety of techniques to include live baiting, skip baiting, casting surface lures and fly fishing.

Slow trolling, casting and drifting live bait are the preferred fishing methods for Sailfish and produce spectacular action on light and medium tackle. The waters off Rompin are world renowned for flyfisherman who wish to experience landing a Sailfish on a flyrod. Anglers troll teasers to raise the Sails to the fly. Hook-less teasers are effective in making the Sails aggressive and bringing them to within the casting range of guests. Oftentimes the Sails become so aggressive that they can be teased all the way to the boat.
